Route 17 through Tuxedo and the back roads into Sterling Forest are some of the darkest, most wildlife-heavy driving in the county.
Curves are tight, there's no lighting, and deer and bear move constantly between Harriman and Sterling Forest. A yellowed lens scatters its light instead of aiming it down the road — precisely the wrong thing on a blind mountain bend.
